Director of Retail Sales

Duties/Responsibilities
The Director of Sales will take ownership for all revenue-generating activities - they will be responsible for formulating the company’s overall sales strategy and developing a targeted sales plan.

The Director of Sales will work closely with leaders across departments to understand business needs, solve issues, and help set strategic priorities. In particular, they will lead the marketing effort to develop and implement appropriate strategies and tactics to drive retail sales growth. They will also ensure a flow of relevant insights between Sales and Production, contributing to the creation of solutions that enhance our brand promise and the company’s revenue potential.

You must be a self-starting Sales Director who can lead and manage an aggressive sales pipeline and effectively manage people and a brand to success.

The Role

The Director, Retail Operations will work closely with the Ownership to provide strategic oversight of the retail store operations in New Mexico. The Director will implement policies and procedures that increase operational effectiveness and maximize long-term store performance and will be an expert in analyzing business performance metrics and translating it into actionable business results.

The Director will execute the retail strategy with specific focus on driving brand awareness.
  • Evaluate the current sales strategy and develop, implement, execute and maintain the retail strategy and growth objectives.
  • Achieve sales and profit objectives set for by the ownership. * Monitor and report key metrics by location.
  • Forecast retail store activity and needs.
  • Oversee merchandising, inventory, real estate, construction, POS, fixtures, etc. in all retail locations.
  • Hire, lead and motivate retail professionals to be highly engaged, effective, and results oriented.
  • Coordinate product stocking and transportation logistics to all dispensaries
  • Provide leadership, supervision and direction to store managers and retail employees by frequenting locations and routine coaching sessions.
  • Coordinate with dispensary managers to improve inventory levels and product mix, reduce slow moving inventory and excess, and ultimately, improve working capital.
  • Identify opportunities/risks in a timely manner and develop effective responses and action plans.
  • Drive innovative solutions to improve sales, conversions and customer experience; identify and recommend areas for improved retail training.
  • Build upon, and continue to deliver, a workplace culture of excellence, service, and passion about our mission and customers.
  • Act as a liaison between the retail dispensaries and the ownership for clear strategic direction.
  • Add input and direct on store design, openings, and remodels, identifying opportunities that will enhance customer experience and operational efficiencies.
  • Work closely with data & analytics on the sales trends and make recommendations to refine sales strategy to maximize profitability.
  • Set sales targets and implement action plans for achieving set goals in each market and overall.
  • Forecast sales figures and inventory requirements for each location and coordinate the transportation of goods from storage to retail dispensaries.
  • Direct merchandising strategies and educate retail staff on company brands, messaging, and products
  • Become an expert in all aspects of the industry; gain a solid understanding of competition and anticipate market trends that drive proactive business decisions
  • Anticipate and plan for a transition to adult cannabis use.
  • Stay current on factors affecting the medical cannabis market - including regulatory changes, business opportunities, and competitors - and quickly make corresponding adjustments to strategy or tactics
  • Oversee the company’s customer loyalty program for customer retention that sustains and elevates the company’s revenue goals
  • Recruit, evaluate, select, and dispensary managers and dispensary staff who are capable of achieving objectives for the company
The position will also oversee the marketing of the retail dispensary brand

Compensation Salary commensurate with experience. Discretionary, performance-based bonus program
