Greenhouse Assistant Grower-Garden
Center-Part Time-Norfolk- Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a
nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train and provide employment
opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. Eggleston is
currently seeking applicants for a part time Greenhouse Assistant Grower at the
Eggleston retail Garden Center location in Norfolk. There
will be weekend hours in the retail position and opportunities to grow and then
sell plants at Eggleston Garden Center.

We are seeking a motivated
individual to work with Garden Center Manager to create and produce an Annual
Grow Schedule. Grows flowers and plants
for Garden Center, Landscaping Crew, urban farm and future restaurant
customers. Helps supervise and provide vocational training to employees under
DSP. Will manage the Garden Center one weekend a month.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience
as a Production Grower at a Nursery or Garden Center growing annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables, and worked at a greenhouse in production capacity. Minimum of 2 years of Retail and Inventory
Control experience. High school diploma
or GED. Must have experience with POS,
Inventory, and Customer Service. Must complete all required training. Clearance
through criminal background investigation, drug screening, and acceptable DMV

record required. Physical Requirements:
Free of tuberculosis in a communicable form. Requires handling of average
weight objects up to 50 pounds; standing/walking for more than four (4) hours
per day; squatting, bending at the waist; twisting, grasping, reaching and
manipulating objects. Ability to problem-solve and make safe decisions in
critical situations. Ability to use computer to complete work tasks. Able to communicate orally and in writing.
Must be able to work in an environment that is prone to hot and cold
temperatures with exposure to outdoor pests, dust, and precipitation.
