Great opportunity to join a growing hydroponic controlled environment agriculture company (CEA) in a fast paced and expanding market. Clearwater Organic Farms (COF), founded in 2015, is currently developing two world class organic vegetable hydroponic production facilities in Illinois and New York State and is looking for an aggressive and experienced General Manager for the Illinois facility.

Opportunity Overview

COF is looking for a detailed oriented individual to lead growing and grow science operations for our Taylorville, Illinois facility. The COF Illinois hydroponic facility is producing organic baby leaf vegetables including spinach, basil, kale and arugula. The Grower should have experience managing the growing process with respect to food quality, food safety, yields, disease control, nutrients, and system integrity. The Grower will manage customer demand and inventory and will also be responsible to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Grower should have a technical background in plant science and operations. This is a "hands on" position that requires continuous operations care and leadership. Reports to the site General Manager

Responsibilities

Responsible for overall greenhouse and food processing, production and food safety management. Specific skills required:

• Deep knowledge of plant science, disease and pest control and plant
• Good sense to anticipate growing
• Ability to take corrective action in response to uncovered issues in growing and/or processing.
• Able to implement operation plan and insure compliance with food safety
• Lead development of new
• Interact with customers as needed to insure meeting customer expectations for quality and
• Implement and manage skills training program for all employees with regards to plant quality and food
• Be responsible to meet production
• Manage production staff in growing and food
• Manage raw materials supply
• Champion of personnel safety, skills development and well-being.

Qualifications

• Four year degree in plant science, horticulture or

• Minimum of 3 years experience in a food processing or high volume vegetable manufacturing
• Experienced manager with ability to lead
• Experience with USDA organic certification and
• Knowledge of
• Budgeting experience and ability to track financial
• Effective
• Experience using metrics to measure and drive business
• Experience in using direct control systems to measure production
• Supplier negotiation and contracting skills for raw materials
• Direct hydroponics experience preferred
