PURPOSE AND KEY RESULTS OF THE POSITION The Marketing Coordinator develops, implements, and monitors both brand and product marketing strategies and initiatives. This position will be responsible for design and copy writing for a variety of marketing projects, such as event communications and marketing collateral, and will maintain all brand websites, blogs, and social media channels. With strong organization and communication skills, this role coordinates the activities of the marketing, sales and product departments, as well as third party vendors, helping to maintain project objectives, timelines, and budgets. In addition to maintaining standard marketing channels, the marketing coordinator will help plan and manage events, and coordinate campaigns. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops social media content; manages social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; creates reports on social media growth and engagement.
  • Writes copy for a variety of marketing projects, working closely with the marketing manager to ensure that messages are on-brand and consistent with marketing strategies. Projects include website copy, press releases, social content, email campaigns, speaking materials, sell sheets, educational campaigns, marketing collateral, blog posts, event communications, etc.
  • Maintains website by updating events calendar, product information, copy, etc.; manages website development; maintains content of web portals such as product ordering site.
  • Designs and develops blog posts according to a digital strategy & editorial calendar.
  • Develops and implements marketing and promotional campaigns as related to both sales initiatives (like product promotions) and brand initiatives (like brand ambassador programs).
  • Manages third party vendors and external resources for marketing-related campaigns, projects, and initiatives.
  • Manages webstore product sales, invoicing, shipping, and customer communications.
  • Manages promotional materials and merchandise; inventory management system and maintenance; coordinates and places orders with associated vendors.
  • Works closely with the sales department to align marketing and sales initiatives and implement strategies.
  • Works closely with the product department to align marketing and product initiatives (like packaging design) and support product team with project implementation.
  • Coordinates events including event logistics and timeline management, speaker communications, event promotions, event registration, attendee communications, vendor management, sponsorship negotiation, on-site coordination, pre- and post-evaluations, and collaboration with the media team.
  • Promotes products and services through public relations initiatives and cultural sponsorships; coordinates communication with internal and external PR resources and sponsorship contacts.
  • Works with marketing manager and business units to determine campaign and event budgets; monitors budgets for marketing campaigns and events by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  • Researches competitive landscape on a project basis; supports product mangers as needed with research on industry trends for all relevant regions; identifies and evaluates competitive company and product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintains research databases.
  • Helps coordinate meetings; takes meeting minutes and communicates follow up actions items. Develops and tracks schedules and assignments in collaboration with marketing manager and relevant teams.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments and grow within the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
  • Strong copy writing and written communication skills, as well as oral communication skills
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and highly detail-oriented
  • Effective problem-solving skills and calm under pressure; comfortable communicating with external parties, like press and media
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees and set a good example of a team player for others
  • Enthusiasm for the cannabis industry and selling cannabis-related products
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or other related field
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in marketing role; experience managing outside vendors and agencies
  • Graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Event management experience preferred
  • Related social media development and management experience preferred
