Sweet Cannabis is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator to ensure that cannabis products produced by Sweet Cannabis meet the organization’s objectives for quality, safety, regulatory and customer expectations in accordance with State and Federal requirements. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance of Ascent, the QA Coordinator will be instrumental in developing Standard Operating Procedures for the Oregon facility, The Coordinator will participate in evaluating performance of established Quality Management Systems and coordinate activities to meet production process and product quality standards. The successful candidate will exude passion for the cannabis industry and drive Sweet Cannabis forward in setting industry standards.

Job Description:

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as an integral member of the Quality Assurance team, interact cross-functionally to ensure business objectives are aligned, and ensure that the organization meets its quality and business goals;
  • Work with the Director of QA and Regulatory Compliance to develop, facilitate implementation and maintenance or regulatory processes and quality systems within departments to ensure product quality and compliance;
  • Develop multiple SOPs to exceed and all mandated regulatory standards; Maintain compliant operation against all work instructions and SOP requirements, working with lab and production teams in the collection of necessary documentation and maintaining auditable records;
  • Develop and implement sanitation program;
  • Coordinate with QA Director to develop QAP training programs and supervise their implementation;
  • Review and handle product related changes and complaints; collaborate with senior level management in conducting product recalls as necessary, including informing the authority of a recall and the reason(s) for it;
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current trends, practices, developments and regulatory changes which would impact products or formulations;
  • Oversee environmental surveillance and hygiene control;
  • Inspect production resources, packaging material and medicinal material, and issue inspection reports; Prepare and manage quality control documentation;
  • Create and support process enhancement initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge, training, and experience in State and Federal requirements and good manufacturing practices (GMP);
  • Strong and current knowledge of OLCC, HACCP, Food Safety, regulatory and environmental guidelines;
  • Understanding of experimental design and trial methods;
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in hygiene control.

Skills:

  • Strong management and leadership skills; experience in a previous supervisory role strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organization skills to keep priorities in focus;
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction;
  • Excellent communications, documentation and presentation skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional and high-performance teams focused on accountability and meeting and exceeding expectations;
  • Ability to interpret the scientific results for the testing of hazardous substances and organisms as well as the product specifications of the dried marijuana product;
  • Ability to write cohesive and foundational scientific reports;
  • Ability to validate analytical chemistry methods and interpret the data.

Other Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science (i.e. Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical);
  • 2-3 years of Quality Assurance and Control experience;
  • Extensive experience in GMP and other Regulatory compliance areas;
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a regulated environment (i.e. pharmaceutical, food or natural health industries);
  • Experience in working and understanding hazard critical control analysis. Certification in hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) considered an asset;
  • Experience with inspecting production resources, packaging material and medicinal material, and issuing inspection reports;
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical chemistry and technical reports;
  • OLCC Certification.
